Start with the job
Organize your tool list around measuring, layout, spreading setting material, positioning, and cleanup. A tool that works on one project may be unsuitable for another tile or installation system.
Choose compatibility over appearance
Ask which trowel notch your setting-material supplier recommends and whether a leveling system supports your tile thickness and joint requirements. Character illustrations do not establish product specifications.
Keep a record
